Intro to Graphic and Web Design - Students work along side professional graphic artists using the most current and powerful design software on the planet - Adobe Creative Suite. Students will learn industry standard techniques in Photoshop, InDesign, Flash, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver to create vibrant photographs, print layouts, animated web graphics, vector files, and, through html hand-coding, their own original page on the world wide web. Student work will be preserved on the web in a portfolio. Guest speakers from the creative industry will join the class.
Advanced Graphic Design (pre-requisite: Intro to Graphic and Web Design) - Students who excel in the survey course can opt to take a much smaller and advanced graphic design class. About 10 students - along with industry professionals - form the information hub of Community High School through maintenance of the school website, video reporting, animated advertising of in-school activities, and creating the print version of the school yearbook. Teacher recommendation required. Opportunities for internships during Wednesday service learning days available.
